Frost Fight
February 5th

What is this Event?
Head to head bike racing on the snow, riders must be faster than their opponents to advance to the next round. The course is comprised of two nearly identical lanes with gates, berms, and rollers that riders must negotiate. Racers do a timed qualifying run in the morning and based on that run they are placed in brackets for racing. Racers then go head to head for two runs, the slowest rider is eliminated and the winner moves on to the next bracket until there are two racers left in the final.

You must qualify in order to race, if your qualifying run is not fast enough to make it into the race you may exchange your lift ticket at the start line for a ski ticket. You must take a qualifying lap in order to be eligible for this exchange.

Day of details:

Day of registration in the Gondola Village from 9:30-10:30. Practice is open from 11:00 to Noon. Qualifying starts at Noon. Racing starts at 1:00. We estimate that the final finisher will be done by 3:00. Awards will be in Moguls at 3:30 if everything goes as planned.

Early starts are 1.5 second penalty
Missed Gates- You must go back and pass on the correct side of the gate to avoid forfeiting the run.

Format

Single timed qualifying run.
The 16 fastest riders are qualified per category. You must qualify in order to race, if your qualifying run is not fast enough to make it into the race you may exchange your lift ticket at the start line for a ski ticket. You must take a qualifying lap in order to be eligible for this exchange.

Riders are bracketed fastest and slowest together, and then next fastest and next slowest, and so on.

Racers will draw cards to determine who picks their lane for the first lap. Lowest card chooses.

Each bracket races twice, with riders swapping lanes for each run. The biggest margin they can win the first round by is 1.5 seconds, this allows a rider to come from behind in the second run and win still if they can do it by more than 1.5 seconds.
Winner of each bracket advances until you have your first and second place. 3rd and 4th places will be determined by the losers of the final 4 brackets racing their own round.
