Why no digging?

One word: water. Until we get some consistent moisture into the soil, there will be no digging. Trying to dig when the soil is bone dry breaks pulverizes the soil and reduces the ability of the soil to hold water once it does rain. We have enough moon dust without creating even more! So be patient, folks.

Evergreen Trail Sessions Facebook page is where trail work days will be posted. We’ll try to better about getting the word out ahead of time this fall.  Trail Sessions

Spoketober Event 9/19/2015

We have lots going on at this event for our riders. We’ll help with the Spokane River Cleanup in the morning, then tailgate with food and drinks for our volunteers at Camp Sekani after. There will be a beer garden set up at the dirt jumps in the afternoon, with a “State of the Trails” meeting at 5. This is where we’ll update you on the latest for Mt. Spokane and Camp Sekani. Our coaches will be offering mini-classes all afternoon so come by and learn something new.

What Happened to Simple Tools?

Simple Tools was rerouted over a small portion of a private parcel to eliminate disc golf conflict. Evidently proper permissions were not established at the time, and the landowner chose to close access after the lack of cleanup after events this spring. Please bear with us (and the weather) as rain is needed to complete the work on the reroute.

Club Communication

We’ve been using Facebook primarily, but knowing that many people don’t use social media, we are working on other options for increased communication. Look for our Twitter @eemountainbike and our Instagram eemountainbike to become more active.

Are you a member?

Evergreen East depends on member support as part of our funding for trail projects and events. If you would like to renew or join, go to Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance Membership and select Evergreen East as your chapter. Thank you!!

Mt. Spokane Update:

Permits are approved for the new trail! This will be a bike- specific, directional trail from the top to bottom. It will run in the vicinity of existing 120-122.Once there is moisture and the trail is ready for dig days, we’ll be sure to announce work days!.

Skills Park

We’ve started giving the skills area a little TLC. Rick and Alec have a plan in the works to revamp and improve this area, with the goal of making it more cohesive and user/learning friend. Think: better than Duthie! The first project will be new placement of the progressive drops for a better and safer learning experience. We are working closely with the city arborist for clearing and cleanup of small trees. For fall, we’ll be doing some timber thinning, and once the rain starts, we’ll be laying out some trails designed for learning on. Work days will be posted.

Education

Our fall schedule has been posted here: https://www.evergreeneast.org/skillsclasses/

We are very excited to have had full classes all season long. It’s a blast to see riders grow in ability and confidence, no matter what the level. We are finding that riders of all levels benefit from a good grounding in the fundamentals. Questions about classes? Just drop us a line classes @ evergreeneast.org

Coaching mountain biking is really fun and rewarding. As you help others, you also get a chance to continually work on your own biking too. We are always looking for interested volunteers to give us a hand with classes, or to learn how to teach biking skills. classes @ evergreeneast.org
