MTB SKILLS CLINICS: Looking to improve on specific mountain biking skills? We will be putting on two free 45-minute mountain bike clinics at Spokatopia (must have Spokatopia ticket/wristband). “Basic Bike Skills” at 10 AM will cover body positioning, braking, shifting, balance and cornering. The 2 PM “Cornering Clinic” will be all about navigating corners on your bike with smooth transitioning into and out of corners to help you feel more comfortable and ride faster. You must bring own MTB and helmet and clinic participation will be limited to 10 riders, with sign-up happening at the Evergreen tent by the beer garden the day of the event on a first-come-first-served basis.

GET TO KNOW SEKANI/BEACON GROUP RIDES: We Will be leading two “welcome to beacon rides” as part of Spokatopia (limited to the first 15 riders). Please note that 650 feet of climbing will be required for uphill riding and even the gentle descent will require some bike skills. These two group rides are intermediate-level.

  • RIDE 1: Meet at the pump track at 11 AM for a guided ride on the Sekani
side of Beacon Hill. Explore Bonsai Kitten and Upchuck trails on the way
up and Simple Tools Trail on the ride down.
  • RIDE 2: Meet at the pump track at 3 PM for a guided ride to the towers
at the top of Beacon Hill. This route will head up Carousel Trail and
then up to the towers. The route down will offer two options. A gentle
or more technical descent. Routes may change depending on participant
    input.

SELF-GUIDED BEGINNER MTB RIDES: There are two simple routes available right out of the Spokatopia festival grounds that are less than 1-mile long and have minimal climbing. Come to the Evergreen East booth by the beer garden to see a map of beginner trails.
